Projects of the
Foundation
- Margaret Mahler Film Resource Library
Videos based on Margaret S. Mahler's research on child development are
available for rental to professional audiences through the Mahler Foundation
Film Library. These films are valuable resources for training institutions
for advanced clinicians and for developmental researchers. (A list is
available in our online Resource
Library)
- Annual Mahler Lecture held in Philadelphia each Spring
Clinicians and researchers gather to exchange insights and expand our
growing understanding of Mahler's concepts and their application. (More
information is available in our online Resource
Library)
- International Margaret Mahler Symposium.
Child rearing practices can vary across cultures, as do concepts of
ideal personality and behavior traits and expectations of developmental
stages. Bringing together child development professionals from differing
ethnic and cultural backgrounds to share observations and practices
enhances cross-cultural understanding and advances theoretical knowledge.
Symposia have been held in Tokyo (2000), Cologne (1993), and Paris (1970).
- Publication of symposium and lecture papers
Papers presented at Mahler meetings are available in our online Resource
Library.
- The Margaret S. Mahler Literature Prize
The Margaret S. Mahler Literature Prize is presented annually to
a researcher or practitioner whose work contributes to the understanding
and development of Mahler's separation-individuation theory. (Learn
more in our Events and Awards
area.)
